Linoleum Printmaking will cover the basics of carving Linoleum blocks for printmaking. The Linoleum material is much like an eraser so that makes for smooth carving. A selection of linoleum cuts will be provided in sizes 3x3inch, 3inch circle, or 4x6 for participants to choose in planning their completed art piece, which could be pattern or image. The linocut is much like a stamp and can be printed on a white background or a surface designed prior to carving that is drying during the carving process. Participants will have more than one finished art prints along with the lino cut for future printing.
Class fee includes all materials.
Printmaking is a personal interest of Paige because the process involves certain steps, repetition and opportunity to apply texture, with a great balance of structure and freedom. These elements of art making cross over into her lifestyle with a love of bike riding, swimming and making white cheddar sage biscuits.
Paige grew up in Tennessee and attended East Tennessee State University where she earned her BS in Art Education, and then relocated to Washington DC for the past 20 years. In the last five years of living in DC and teaching art, she earned her Masters in Art Education at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. As one of the four DC public school teachers to receive a full scholarship, with gratitude she continues to seek opportunities to share her experience in the studio classroom.
