November Photo Group Critique!

Hi everyone,

As we posted in our last event, we would like to make this a monthly gathering of photographers / photo-based artists who are interested in cultivating a photo community in Savannah. Feel free to bring a piece or two to these first few events, so we can all get to know each other and our work, and we can build into the more structured critique dialogue described below.

Emily Earl and Bridget Conn are the organizers of the photo critique series.

Emily Earl is a photographer from Savannah, she is a co-founder of Sulfur Studios, acting as Director of Public Relations & Special Events. Emily is also the owner/operator of Prismatic Prints, a print shop inside of Sulfur Studios that specializes in large format digital printing, and provides scanning, mounting, editing and design servies as well.

Bridget Conn is an Assistant Professor of Art in Photography at Armstrong State University. She taught at East Georgia State College from 2005-2008 where she was a member of the Stillmoreroots artist collective. She moved to Asheville, North Carolina in 2009, where she eventually founded The Asheville Darkroom, a non-profit organization that offers darkroom access, educational opportunities, and a critique forum to the wider WNC community. She relocated to Savannah in the fall of 2016 to teach at Armstrong.

**The structure and goals for the critique group are listed below! We hope to see you there!**

We are aiming to provide a forum for photographers/photographic artists at all levels, digital or analog, to receive critical feedback. We appeal to individuals using the medium as an artistic process, who will bring questions about their work, and are working within photography -- analog or digital, or other photo-based media. Ideally photographs should be in printed format, but we will provide a laptop with digital projector for folks who don't have prints ready to show. All who wish to provide a safe but challenging environment to grow with input from a group of peers are welcome!

Optionally, participants who do not bring work of their own can bring an example of a work of art or artist they would like to discuss, in case we are short on personal artwork. Books/print is preferred. If you are new to critique group, feel free to join us without artwork for your first visit to get an idea of our dialogue.

The first six people to reserve a slot will have their work reviewed during the critique, although anyone beyond the six who wants to attend is very much welcomed. To reserve a slot for critique of your work, email us at emilyearlphoto@gmail.com.

We will be meeting in the Sulfur Studios Annex -- upstairs at 2301 Bull Street (upstairs entrance is on the corner of 39th and Desoto Ave -- look for the blue awning!) and please BYOB

For digital presentations -- please bring no more than 20 images on a flash drive -- we will not look at websites during critique, only photos you have chosen to show for the evening. Feel free to show images that stand on their own, or a body of work (completed or in progress)

Email Emily at emilyearlphoto@gmail.com for any other questions!
