“I lived in Los Angeles for 11 years, and the ongoing discussion of a wildlife crossing seemed non-productive. But now, a new crossing is underway over the 101 Freeway. It may be too late for P-22, who passed away last year, but the planted bridge will provide more room to roam for mountain lions and other animals trapped by urban sprawl. Coyotes, deer, lizards, snakes and big cats will have a safe route to open space in the Santa Monica Mountains and better access to food and potential mates. I will always use P-22 as a role model to convince urban planners to incorporate ALL residents when developing infrastructure.”
